Device registration

GROW’s Debug feature allows you to check quickly if all your engagement capabilities are functioning as expected. This engagement capabilities can be summed up as a tagging plan integration and messaging format (push notification & in-app messages) display.

The Debug feature is accessible from the side menu of our UI.

List of registered devices

When you click on the Debug icon for the first time, you will be redirected to the test device registration page.

A list of devices will be displayed, it contains all test devices registered for the selected app. Each of those devices has a unique identifier randomly generated by GROW. This identifier is called device ID.

The device ID is not an IDFA. GROW is not an advertising solution, we are not relying on such identifiers.

Some basic actions your can perform on from this list:

  • Search for a test device based on its name or device ID from the search engine.
  • Delete unused test devices by clicking on the trash icon.
  • Start testing or edit a device name by clicking on a specific device.

Register a test device

To start registering a new test device, click on the “Add device” button.

You will then see a panel appear on the right side of the screen. This section will allow you to register your device in 3 different ways.

Registration via QR code

Scan the QR code to be redirected to your application.

Witness your device ID and device name in an in-app in your mobile app.

A button in message will offer you to

  • register your device directly
  • copy your device ID for manual registration.

If you choose to register your device directly, it will appear in the list of devices registered with your associated first name.

Registration via email

You can register your device by sending an email to be opened on the device. Enter your email address and click on “Register Device”.

On the test device, open the emailing and click on the registration link. This link will redirect you to your application.

A button in message will offer you to

  • register your device directly
  • copy your device ID for manual registration.

If you choose to register your device directly, it will appear in the list of devices registered with your associated first name.

Manual registration

If you already know your GROW Device ID, you can enter it manually along with a device name to be displayed in the list. Your test device will then be directly added to the list.

Once the registration is done, you will be able to start testing!

Troubleshooting: if your registration link does not open the desired mobile app, please ensure the app you are testing and the one selected for the registration flow are the same (same OS and app). If not the app will not be opened.
